LEN Trophy- Mataró 2018 has warmed up the engines this Thursday with the official Press conference of the competition
The press conference held at URH Mataró Hotel – where the teams are housed- has been presided over by the sports councillor of Mataró hall, Marisa Merchán, LEN delegate, Dejan Perisic and CN Mataró president, Joan Gros.
Merchán opened the event, who welcomed all the participating teams in Mataró, “a city engaged with sport and the waterpolo; and what we want is to be welcoming”. The councillor also wanted to thank to LEN that it thought in Mataró as a place for this event and CN Mataró for its organizational effort.
Then, it was CN Mataró president turn, who wished that the people will enjoy of the competition and of the city. Also, he was in charge to explain the forced change of event place due to the bad forecast.
Olympiacos: “For all teams, the final is tomorrow”
The first to be interviewed by the event presenter were Olympiacos representatives. Their Captain, Triantafyllia Manolioudiaki, said that she doesn’t know if they are the favourite to win, but stressed that other three teams are very powerful.
Its coach, Theocaris Pavlides, talked about their semifinal rival, Padova: “We know and respect each other. It’s complicated to play against them and against all Italian teams. They are tactical, fast, strong and with experienced players. Every match is much closer, and I hope that that time will be like that. For all teams, tomorrow is the final. I know that my team is ready and I wish will win the best”.
Padova: “Olympiacos is one of the best teams in the world”
From Plebiscito Padova, its Captain Laura Teani agreed to assert that she also anticipated a very complicated semifinal, but they are prepared and expect to play a great game to win.
Stefano Posterivo, Italian coach, has not spared praised for their rival: “For me, Olympliacos is one of the best teams in the world. We will try, and I agree to my colleague, that the final is tomorrow. For us, it will be very complicated, but it will be a pleasure to be here”.
Dunaujvaros: “It will be very competitive match”
From hungarian team, Dunaujvaros, their captain Krisztina Garda has stated that they are aware that their rival is a great team. “We must play well if we want to achieve the goal of being in the final”, Garda said.
A member of the technical team, Balasz Varga, said: “I would like to congratulate everybody and say that it is a pleasure to be here. Mataró is a very respectful team and we would love to play a game against them, knowing that it will be a very competitive match”.
La Sirena Mataró: “We wish that Mataró gives it all with us”
In the end, it talked the home team, La Sirena CN Mataró. Marta Bach, the Captain, talked about the forced changed of event place: “It’s true that El Sorrall is our lucky charm, but we were very excited to play in Joan Serra’s sport complex, where we train every day and because it’s our swimming pool. But, we hope that El Sorrall will be at the same level as in the lasts times and we wish that Mataró gives it all with us”.
To finish, the coach Florin Bonca showed himself so proud to organize here again the LEN Trophy Final four. “The four teams are very strong, and the truth is that it is an equalled Final-4. We come back to El Sorrall, our lucky charm swimming pool. The first match will be equalled, and very important to be in the final. We encourage to everyone to come to the pool to cheer us up”, Bonca concluded.
Perisic: “We are here to enjoy, not for fighting”
At the end of the press conference, the LEN delegate, Dejan Perisic, wanted to congratulated Mataró and CN Mataró to organize again this competition, which they already organized. But the best congratulation was for clubs, teams, players and coaches.
He also wanted to give an importance message: “We are here to enjoy doing what we like, and doing it with friendship, because we can only progress if we support each other. We are not here to fight, we are here to enjoy and compete. I know we will live two great seasons and wonderful matches, and we will do our best to see a great show.
